The viral Skibidi Toilet phenomenon recently sparked a bizarre DMCA dispute involving the popular sandbox game Garry's Mod. However, the situation appears resolved, according to game developer Garry Newman.
The Mystery DMCA Sender
While the matter is settled, the identity of the party who issued the DMCA takedown notice remains unclear. It's uncertain whether it originated from DaFuqBoom or Invisible Narratives, the creators often associated with the Skibidi Toilet IP.
Garry Newman, in a statement to IGN, confirmed receiving the notice late last year. He expressed disbelief on a Discord server, commenting on the audacity of the claim. The subsequent viral controversy quickly followed, but Newman has since confirmed the issue's resolution.
The DMCA targeted user-created content within Garry's Mod featuring Skibidi Toilet characters like Titan Cameraman, Titan Speakerman, and Titan TV Man. The sender argued that these creations generated significant revenue and infringed upon their registered copyrights.
