Japanese YouTuber's Massive Pokémon TCG Pocket Collection
A $8,500+ Investment (Excluding Sales)
Hajimesyacho, a popular Japanese YouTuber known for diverse content, revealed on Twitter (now X) his impressive collection of 50,000 Pokémon TCG Pocket cards. This was accomplished by purchasing the daily maximum of 720 Poké Gold every day since the game's October 30, 2024 launch. This daily expenditure, estimated at around $100, totals approximately $8,500 over the 85 days the game has been live – and this doesn't include any potential savings from in-game sales events. His dedication secured cards from Genetic Apex (A1), Mythical Island booster packs, and limited-time promotional cards.
The recently added "Pokedex" Trainer card, awarded for global card collection milestones (40 billion cards), further highlights the scale of his achievement.
McDonald's x Pokémon TCG Happy Meal Collaboration
The Pokémon Company announced a surprise partnership with McDonald's on January 21, 2025. Happy Meal purchasers can receive exclusive Pokémon-themed boxes containing collectible physical Pokémon TCG cards and in-game items.
Fifteen unique physical cards, including popular Pokémon like Miraidon, Roaring Moon, Rayquaza, and others (seven of which are holographic), are available randomly. TCG Pocket players can also redeem in-game rewards: 24 Pack Hourglasses and 12 Hourglasses for opening booster packs and utilizing the Wonder Pick feature.
Four distinct Happy Meal box designs feature iconic dragon-type Pokémon: Charizard, Rayquaza, Roaring Moon, and Dragonite, alongside Pikachu. These limited-time offers are available at participating McDonald's locations until supplies last. Remember, in-game rewards expire on March 31, 2025.
Upcoming Trading Feature in Pokémon TCG Pocket
A January 17, 2025, Twitter (X) announcement detailed Pokémon TCG Pocket's forthcoming trading feature. Trading will be limited to friends with cards of equal rarity (1-4 diamonds and 1-star). Rarer cards (Special Illustration Rare, Immersive, and Crown Rares) are excluded. A consumable item, similar to Stardust in Pokémon GO, will facilitate trades.
Initially, trading will include cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, with the developers promising expanded card selection based on player feedback. The announcement also hinted at a new booster pack launching in January 2025.
