Responding to player feedback, League of Legends is reinstating Hextech Chests. This article details the upcoming update and other changes based on community input.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Decisions
The Return of Hextech Chests
Following significant player feedback, League of Legends (LoL) is bringing back Hextech Chests. A developer update, published on Riot Games' website (February 27, 2025) and accompanied by a YouTube video, outlines upcoming changes.
Riot Games acknowledged the unpopularity of recent updates, stating, "We've heard your feedback, and it's clear we need to adjust." The return of Hextech Chests was a key community request. LoL explained, "Hextech Chests were more than just loot; they were a rewarding aspect of the game. We underestimated their importance."
Starting with patch 25.05, players can earn up to ten chests and keys per act: eight from the free pass and two via the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed & Further Adjustments
Riot Games announced a delay for the Exalted Mordekaiser skin, aiming for a higher quality release. The entire Exalted skin line will also be delayed, deviating from the initial plan of a new skin each act.
Further addressing player feedback, LoL will replace a non-Prestige skin reward with 25 Mythic Essence, acknowledging player concerns about Mythic Essence scarcity and the number of champions per seasonal theme.
To improve champion accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05.
Clash's frequency will also be increased, resuming its monthly schedule. March will feature ARURF Clash, followed by a standard SR Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Popular in-game shops, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are making a comeback. Your Shop is slated for patch 25.06, and the Emporium for 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to ongoing improvement, stating, "Improving League is an iterative process. These updates are a significant step, and we'll continue to monitor player feedback and adjust accordingly." This demonstrates Riot's commitment to incorporating player feedback.
