Assetto Corsa EVO: A New Challenger in the Racing Simulator Arena
Mark your calendars, racing game aficionados! January 16th, 2025, marks the arrival of Assetto Corsa EVO on Steam Early Access, courtesy of Kunos Simulazioni Studios.
Launching with an impressive roster of 20 meticulously detailed cars and 5 iconic tracks – Imola, Brands Hatch, Bathurst, Laguna Seca, and Suzuka – Assetto Corsa EVO promises realistic physics, responsive controls, and authentic car behavior, even in its Early Access phase.
A standout feature is the inclusion of a free-roam mode, allowing for unconstrained exploration. Summer 2025 will see a significant update introducing the famed Nürburgring and its surrounding roads. This fully laser-scanned open world will span a massive 1600 square kilometers, with further expansion planned.
Kunos Simulazioni aims to establish Assetto Corsa EVO as a leading contender in the racing simulator genre, vying with established titans like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport. This ambition is underpinned by photorealistic graphics and cutting-edge physics.
The full release will boast an expanded offering of 100 vehicles and 15 tracks, with additional content slated for free post-launch updates. Every circuit will faithfully recreate real-world conditions, from tire wear to wet track surfaces, enhanced by realistic spectator animations.
Developers have also refined vehicle dynamics, focusing on suspension damping and shock absorption. Early Access players can hone their skills in the Driving Academy mode, tackling time trials on various tracks to earn a license unlocking access to the most prestigious vehicles. This academy mode is one of the planned single-player features for the Early Access launch.
