Ubisoft Mainz has unveiled a new trailer showcasing Anno 1800's successor, Anno 117: Pax Romana, offering a glimpse into its gameplay. Initial reports indicated exploration of Lazio and Albion; however, the trailer suggests Lazio serves as an introductory region before the main focus shifts to Albion (Britain).
Creative Director Manuel Rainer explains that Lazio starts peacefully, but a catastrophic event forces players to seek refuge in Albion. Albion presents significant challenges: harsh weather, rebellious tribes, and geographical remoteness from Rome, making governance complex.
Players govern as a Roman official, tasked with navigating these difficulties through diplomacy and strategic choices, rather than solely military force. Respecting local customs is key to establishing harmony. A unique element is the customizable ship design, allowing players to prioritize speed with oarsmen or offensive capabilities with archery turrets.
Anno 117: Pax Romana is scheduled for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
